FoodFoodBodyBody

Susan before and after.

In January of 2009, I experienced a wake-up call (which prompted the beginning of the FoodFoodBodyBody blog) when I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. For the first time in my life I felt truly motivated to exercise and lose weight. This blog is about my journey along the way.

April 2009: I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The journey changed and continued.

June 2009: I lost 33 lbs and reached a healthy goal weight for the first time in 20 years and immediately joined the staff of Weight Watchers.

August 2009: I turned fifty in the healthiest shape I've ever been.

December 2009: I’m feeling great, and so much of it has to do with the support and encouragement I received via my blog.

April 2010: I ran 12k as part of a team relay in the Oakland Marathon. Couch potatoes really can learn to run!

May 2010: I transformed my blog into a solo performance show and took it onstage via San Francisco's City Solo Series.

In June 2010, I am eligible to join the National Weight Control Registry, a national registry for the small percentage of people who manage to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF for more than a year. This feels like a huge milestone. The journey continues, indeed.
